December 19, 2022: -On Friday, Emergency services stated that an aquarium in Berlin that was for 1,500 exotic fish exploded, spilling 1 million litres of water and debris on the major road in the caught-up Mitte district.

Around 100 emergency people rushed to the area, a leisure complex that homes a Radisson hotel, a museum, and an aquarium.

Sea Life Berlin is offering glass elevator rides via the Aquadom aquarium; stating is the significant freestanding cylindrical aquarium in the world at 14 meters (46 ft) in height.

Splinters of glass injured two people, and police evacuated the hotel in the complex of concern that there could be structural damage.

“Just chaos. The whole aquarium burst, and what’s remaining is total devastation. Many fishes, debris,” hotel guest Sandra Weisser stated.

Search and take care of dogs scoured the ground floor of the building, which was littered with debris for the people to access, but found no casualties, the Berlin fire brigade stated on Twitter.

A person who was known for the matter for the fire brigade stated it was still unclear is causing the AquaDom aquarium to burst.

Sea Life commented on its website it would remain closed due to the incident on Friday.

Neither the fire brigade nor the police stated the fate of the fish, though police Tweeted that there had been “unbelievable maritime damage.”

The fire brigade spokesperson said that 350 people who stay at the hotel in the complex were questioned to pack their belongings and go from the building.

Buses are sent to provide shelter for people who left the hotel as outside temperatures are hovering at nearly -7 degrees Celsius (19.4°F), police stated.

Emergency services shut down a major road to the complex that leads from Alexanderplatz to the Brandenburg Gate due to the large volume of water flooding the building.

In 2020, the aquarium was last refurbished, according to the website of the DomAquaree complex. In the upgrading work, all the water was drained in the tank, and the fish transferred to aquariums on the lowest floor of the building, where there is a care facility for the fish, it added.
