April 12, 2021: –Facebook is converting part of its Menlo Park, California, headquarters into a public Covid-19 vaccination site starting on Saturday, COO Sheryl Sandberg said on Friday. The company hopes to help vaccinate at least 10,000 in the first few weeks of its effort, a spokesperson said.

Facebook will partner with Ravenswood Family Health Network for the vaccine rollout. The company is also partnering with East Palo Alto and Menlo Park cities to provide two-way transportation for the vaccine appointments on the campus.

Facebook is also teaming up with the California government and nine non-profit’s to support mobile vaccination across the state, which also includes the Central Valley, Inland Empire, San Diego, and South-Central Los Angeles, said, Sandberg.

“As more COVID-19 vaccines roll out all over the country, we finally see glimmers of hope, which can grow as we continue to make progress,” Sandberg wrote.

Facebook’s move follows its social media peer Google. The Alphabet-owned company in January offered up its facilities to serve as Covid-19 vaccination sites as needed.
