Employees globally say Miami and Florida are the best for expats

December 14, 2022: -Globally, people say that Miami, Florida, is the most profitable U.S. city to live and work abroad.

The South Florida beach and nightlife destination ranked 12th out of 50 global cities. According to a survey of over 12,000 respondents from InterNations, online expat residents with exceeding 4.5 million global members, they were in a top place for expats to stay and work abroad.

Not too far behind in New York City, which ranks 16th out of 50.

Miami and New York are the U.S. cities considered for the ranking, requiring a sample of nearly 50 survey participants living in the destination.

The survey, which was conducted in 2022 and released in late November, which is asking the expats to rate their satisfaction all over five main categories, which include quality of life, ease of settling in, personal finance, working abroad, and “expat essentials,” covering digital life, housing options, language barriers and which dealt with local government and managerial tasks.

Expats in Miami say it’s straightforward to settle in, adjust to local culture, find high-speed internet availability at home, pay without receiving the cash, and open a local bank account.

Miami is a growing hotspot for Americans. Many tech and finance firms relocated there during the pandemic, lured by warm weather and tax advantages. People are traded in big cities such as New York and Los Angeles for Miami, where a Covid-fueled influx has driven up the real estate market and made a living more pricey.

The South Florida city didn’t rank well in the survey’s “working abroad” index. While beginners enjoy ample career options and a creative business community, almost 1 in 4 is unhappy with their working hours.

They report being dissatisfied with Miami’s shared transit and unaffordable health care if only partially inaccessible.

Therefore, Miami and New York stand out with huge leisure options and career prospects, which welcome culture and few language barriers but are coming down by the high cost of living and low scores all over the InterNations’ “quality of life” index, which include travel and transit, health and wellbeing, and protection and security.

Still, an overwhelming majority, 85%, of expats living in Miami are satisfied with their life in general, and 74% of expats in New York, compared with the 71% global average.

Valencia and Spain, is the No. 1 city for people to live and work abroad in 2022, such as Dubai and Mexico City.
