Mach7 Technologies - Enabling Healthcare Institutions to Provide Quality Care

Mach7 | Enabling Healthcare Institutions to Provide Quality Care

Several issues plague healthcare IT today, but chief among them is a lack of data sharing and interoperability between departments and different hospital IT systems. Healthcare organizations struggle to implement and manage imaging systems that can support the technical aspects of storing, archiving, and retrieving imaging data across their specialty service lines while integrating clinical workflow tools and applications that seamlessly link to these systems. These systems must also support interpreting and non-interpreting providers, clinicians, and administrators across the healthcare continuum and bring patient clinical and imaging data to these teams with the proper context and relevance.

Mach7’s unique vendor-neutral enterprise imaging solution meets the full spectrum of multi-disciplinary imaging needs across healthcare organizations. Whether deployed end-to-end or as individual components, their image storage, patient data

management, workflow orchestration, and viewing solutions enable limitless workflows and enhance a healthcare organization’s ability to deliver high-quality care to its patients.

Mach7 was founded in 2007 to answer a single overarching question: How can they fix or replace the imaging systems that have become ingrained in healthcare over the past decade, which were not designed to support modern care delivery needs? Mach7 developed a solution by focusing on the enterprise first, not any individual hospital department. This culminated in creating their vendor-neutral enterprise imaging platform (EIP), a combination vendor-neutral archive to provide structured image storage and workflow engine to route images where and when they are needed intelligently.

A few years later, Mach7 introduced their Universal Worklist, which, combined with their EIP, allowed them to facilitate reading workflows for diagnostic interpretation. Finally, in 2020, Mach7 acquired Client Outlook, Inc., creator of the eUnity enterprise and diagnostic viewers. The combination of eUnity and the Mach7 EIP, worklist, QC, and other modules form their modern, scalable, and flexible Enterprise Imaging Solution that can meet a healthcare organization’s multi-disciplinary needs.

A Unique Platform

Mach7’s Enterprise Imaging Solution (EIS) is built for the enterprise, not converted from departmental systems. From the beginning, their modular software solutions have focused on integration, workflow, scalability, and performance to ensure imaging data can be made available wherever it is needed. Mach7’s EIS helps healthcare organizations break free from hardware dependence, unnecessary third-party contracts, legacy proprietary vendor solutions with narrow capabilities, and ultimately from a vendor strategy that is not their own. They truly drive their customers’ independence through technology innovations and product strategies instead of locking their customers into high overhead, costly contracts that force them into one ecosystem and proprietary imaging infrastructure.

Mach7’s EIS is designed to support both DICOM and non-DICOM formats across regions, sites, and departments. This includes all specialties, including but not limited to radiology, cardiology, pathology, wound care, dermatology, and ophthalmology. The Mach7 EIS can integrate with the existing departmental PACS and other imaging and healthcare systems present in healthcare organizations. This allows them to consolidate and intelligently group patient data into a complete record, which is then accessible through electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems. Mach7’s eUnity enterprise viewer gives clinicians additional insight into the patient record by allowing patient images to be associated with items within the patient record and viewed within the EHR.

In one instance, St. Teresa’s Hospital, the largest private hospital in Hong Kong, was having a problem that, unfortunately, plagues many health systems around the world today: their legacy PACS could not deliver the functionality, performance, interoperability, and breadth needed to carry their organization into the future. When they were searching for a replacement solution, Mach7 stood out from the vendors because their solution offered an enterprise imaging transformation with a comprehensive vendor-neutral platform designed not only to bridge the gaps of existing legacy systems but also to offer a flexible strategy for the future. Using Mach7, St. Teresa’s migrated legacy PACS studies to the Mach7 VNA and completed key patient data and image enablement integration with their homegrown Electronic Health Record system. Immediate benchmarks were seen in clinical workflow efficiencies, diagnostic confidence, image storage, retrieval, diagnostic viewing speeds, and overall system performance.

Towards the Future

Mach7 will continue to advance the core of their business, Enterprise Imaging. They will continue to focus on developing solutions that add value to their customers and focus on their core competencies of viewing, capturing, archiving, managing, and communicating medical images and data across the enterprise. Mach7 will advance and innovate its in-depth workflow solutions with standards-based interoperability to enhance medical systems integration across the imaging spectrum. This will include further advancements with mobile devices, data analytics, artificial intelligence, interoperability with 3rd party visualization solutions, enhancements around content capture and management, and more.
