ChalkTalk is a blended learning platform that helps teachers and boosts student mastery on K-12 ELA & math. ChalkTalk combines the school schedule and a diagnostic test, then uses AI to generate a lesson plan for every day. Every lesson plan comes with whole group instructional materials for the teacher, as well as small group activities and personalized practice for the students. Lesson plans are editable by teachers and edits can be tied back to student growth—this allows districts to identify effective teaching practices within their campuses as well as offer support to teachers. In a single semester, by borrowing as little as 20 hours of instructional time, ChalkTalk has shown increases in official student test scores by 2-6x.
ChalkTalk has just published its latest round of impact studies, featuring its first ever multi-year studies as well as a global impact study highlighting performance metrics across the board. The results reveal that students experience significant growth on high school state testing of 2-6 times—compared to the US national average—consistently year over year.
In just one semester, students using ChalkTalk are experiencing up to 6 times more growth on high school state tests—such as the SAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER, and TSIA2—compared to their peers who have received an entire year of traditional classroom instruction. With the latest ChalkTalk release, ChalkTalk’s newly-launched “Study Hall” feature has hundreds of adaptive interactive videos and resources that students can use to prepare for the state tests.
For as little as 20 hours of ELA & math instruction time, teachers can use ChalkTalk to measurable gains in ELA & math learning outcomes. All students take a real official state test (such as the SAT or ACT) at the start and at the end of the academic year, with options to take it more times in between. This allows us to report improvement in terms of both proficiency and growth.
Below is a spotlight for some of our multi-year studies:
“I used ChalkTalk the first semester, and all my intensive students who failed the Florida test the first time took the test again that semester and 83% of them passed! ChalkTalk helped me do this,” says Pascale Lassegue, Intensive Reading Teacher, Felix Varela Senior High School, Miami-Dade Schools.
Caroline Portlock from Sandalwood High School wrote “I ran through ChalkTalk the first semester, and all my at-risk students took the state test [again] in Oct, Nov and Dec and 78% of them passed!!”
Donielle Gregory, Vice Principal at Lake Nona High School says, “We’ve been trying to improve our graduation rates for years. This year, all we did was add ChalkTalk for 14 weeks and we raised our concordant test scores by 19%.”
“It [ChalkTalk] makes my life easier, and I want it to make other teachers’ life easier,” says Petra Abril, ELA & Math Special Education Director.
Expanding beyond the realm of high school state testing, ChalkTalk now offers the most widely-used and most highly-rated K-12 Math curricula on its platform: K-12 Eureka Math® and Illustrative Math K–12™ Math. Responding to district feedback that they need an easy platform to roll out their rigorous adopted curricula, ChalkTalk created a platform that includes scheduling, daily lesson planning, instructional materials, standards-aligned grade-level practice, and real-time analytics. By analyzing data from assessments and instruction, ChalkTalk identifies students’ learning gaps and enables teachers to respond seamlessly.
With ChalkTalk, admins can run reports that identify which teachers’ edits to the materials and instructional strategies are causing higher levels of standards mastery for students. They can then recognize and celebrate those teachers publicly within ChalkTalk, as well as showcase those changes to other teachers in the district with a single click. Similarly, admins can use reports to identify which teachers are seeking additional help to support them targeted PD and instructional coaching within ChalkTalk.
ChalkTalk Founder and CEO Mohannad Arbaji said, “44% of K12 workers in the US say they ‘always’ or ‘very often’ feel burned out at work, outpacing all other industries nationally by more than half. We believe all teachers—regardless of experience, expertise, knowledge or success—deserve high quality coaching and we’re glad to be playing a role in that.” Below is a spotlight from one of our K-12 math district partners:
" Marked year-over-year score gains in schools that apply ChalkTalk inspire our whole team in our mission of supporting educators "
