Boeing Defense Unit Chief Colbert to Depart, CEO Confirms

According to the company’s chief executive, Ted Colbert, the president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, is stepping down from his position. The departure comes amidst ongoing challenges for Boeing’s defense business, including delays in military aircraft programs and regulatory scrutiny.

Colbert, who has been with Boeing for more than thirty years, has faced increasing pressure to improve the defense unit’s performance. In recent years, Boeing has experienced significant setbacks, including the grounding of the 737 MAX commercial aircraft and delays in delivering military aircraft such as the F-15EX fighter jet.

The company has also faced regulatory scrutiny over its safety practices and handling quality control issues. These challenges have contributed to a decline in Boeing’s stock price and have raised questions about its ability to compete effectively in the defense industry.

Boeing has not yet announced a successor to Colbert. However, the company has indicated that it is searching for a new leader for its defense unit.

The departure of Colbert marks a significant change for Boeing, which has been grappling with a series of challenges in recent years. Whether the company will successfully navigate these challenges and regain its position as a leading defense contractor remains to be seen.

As of September 23, 2024, Boeing has not provided further details about Colbert’s departure or the process for selecting his successor.
