Supreme Court Ruling Expected on AI-generated political speech

The dispute centers on whether restrictions on synthetic political messaging—produced by large language models, deepfakes, or algorithmic ad targeting—violate constitutional protections afforded to human speakers.

The case arose after state officials attempted to block the use of AI-generated campaign materials that closely resembled the voice and likeness of a real candidate, arguing the content was misleading and intended to deceive voters.
