Armenia states that 49 soldiers were destroyed in conflicts

September 14, 2022: -On Tuesday, Armenia stated that nearly 49 of its soldiers had been killed in clashes along the border with Azerbaijan after a sharp escalation in hostilities that increased big powers to call for restraint.

Armenia said that a few towns near the frontier with Azerbaijan, including Jermuk, Goris, and Kapan, were being shot and added that it had responded to what is known as a “large-scale provocation” by Azerbaijan. Baku said Armenia thrashed it.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is accusing Azerbaijan of attacking Armenian towns as it did not negotiate the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. This enclave is inside Azerbaijan but is mainly populated by ethnic Armenians.

“The intensity of hatreds has decreased, while attacks on one or two fronts from Azerbaijan continue,” Pashinyan added in a speech to parliament, according to Russian media.

The latest escalation of decades-old animosity between the two South Caucasus countries has fueled worries that a second decrease-fledged war could break out in the post-Soviet planet in addition to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Azerbaijan, which accused Armenia of carrying out intelligence activity along the border and moving weapons, said its service positions came under attack by Armenia. Azerbaijani media reports that a ceasefire agreement had been damaged nearly after being enforced early on Tuesday.

“As we have long made obvious, there is no troops solution to the conflict,” U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated in a statement. “We urge an end to the military hostilities instantly.”

Russia, which operates a service base in Armenia, is a key regional power dealer and an ally of Yerevan via the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organization, while Turkey supports Azerbaijan.

The defense ministers of Armenia and Russia spoke. They agree to take steps to stabilize the situation on the border. At the same time, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu maintained a ring with his Azerbaijani partner Jeyhun Bayramov and called for Armenia to “cease its provocations.”

Charles Michel, president of the European Council, also urged Pashinyan to prevent further escalation.
